Illini wrap up with Annual awards banquet |
April 06, 2008 - The Illini wrapped up the 2007-2008 season with their annual awards banquet, which was held at Guido's in Champaign. After the players, family, and friends got their fill of food and drink, Coach Cassel took center stage and gave a brief recap of the teams outstanding season before presenting the players with their individual awards. Coach Cassel first handed out the CSCHL awards that were accumulated after the playoffs, then went on to the Illini Hockey Awards. The 2008 recipients are listed below:

After the awards were handed out, it was time for the six seniors, Joey Resch, Ricky Gomez, Drew Heredia, Nick Fabbrini, Kevin Wicklin, and Dave Schmitt, to step into the spotlight and say their final farewells. Also announced were the clubs officers for next season, who are as follows. Returning Club President, Jordan Pringle, Returning Vice-President Matt Jennings and co-Vice President Tim Gilbert. Returning Treasurer Ricky Gomez will be handling the teams finances once again as he continues his education at the U of I.
