Illini remain #1 in the nation
   
ACHA Ranking #8 released
   
February 1, 2008 - The University of Illinois was a unanimous choice again for the top spot in the eighth ranking of the regular season.  The Fighting Illini, who survived an 11-round shootout against Ohio University on Saturday to keep its perfect record intact at 25-0-0, received all 40 first-place votes.  #9 West Chester clinched the second spot in this years ACHA Men's Division 1 National Championships as Regular Season Champions of the Eastern Collegiate Hockey Association (ECHA).  #5 Delaware, #10 Iowa State, #13 Eastern Michigan, and #23 Arizona all moved up one spot in the rankings.  Western Michigan was the rankings highest mover, bumping up two spots and coming in at #15.  The University of Pittsburgh makes its first appearance in the rankings at the Division 1 level, edging up to the #25 position. The rankings have expanded this season to include the Top 25 teams, up from 20. The ninth ranking of the regular season will be released on Friday, February 15, and will determine the 16 teams that qualify for the National Tournament.
